Staff reports
"Cover band" isn't generally the most flattering label, but the King Bucks,
well, buck that trend.
The musicians and friends (who all play or have played with other local acts)
banded together last year for casual country jams and soon found themselves
performing all over town, covering Buck Owens (hence the name), the Everly
Brothers, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, even Dolly Parton.
This month, the Bucks hit the studio to start laying down original tracks for
a future release. "We're all fans of the old-school honky-tonk sound," says piano
player Chad Stockslager, "but we tend to rock it up a little bit."
Hear for yourself at Adair's Saloon in Deep Ellum, where the band plays every
Monday night. And try your hardest not to cut a rug.
